This Perry Ellis Handmade tie dates from the earliest days of my necktie collection, i.e. 1990 plus or minus two years. I bought it at the Syms discount warehouse in Rockville, Maryland, and it remains my best-ever Syms find and favorite paisley tie. My girlfriend at the time dubbed this my "chili peppers" tie because of the row of four chili-pepper shapes (leaves?) right in the middle (two green, two yellow) and again at the very bottom. That relationship is long over, but the tie nickname remains. Because this tie is every bit as good as a Liberty of London (in complexity of pattern, color range and balance, precision of printing, quality of fabric, and construction) I honor it by storing it with my Liberties. I ended up here by following a Google trail (about John, and Velocity Girl)...I'm glad to see that you are happy, and that you are now a tie collector. (I think I'm the former girlfriend mentioned in this post. I never could quite figure out what would be appealling to you in a tie; at one point I decided it had to do with how much white was in the design). Congrats on your marriage to Eva - I remember meeting her long ago, and remember her as being "wicked smaht" - perfect for you.

Ah yes, my brother, the liner note. And oh yes, you were the girlfriend. At that time I was under the misapprehension that only white (or very pale) shirts were acceptable, and I just couldn't accept wearing a tie without white in it to match the shirt. As you can see I have liberalized my views since then.
Thank you for the well-wishes, I am indeed happy and finally feel that I have my life together (after a long and sometimes tortuous process, as I'm sure you've heard). What about you?
